It's a mat! This is a standard mat, with a peace-sign/earth logo on it. I didn't find it to be too slippery, but maybe I have better dexterity than others, or do simpler postures.

Quality mat for Bikram. I have been using this mat for about 8 months (3-5x week) for practicing Bikram yoga. Since I always have towels over the mat, the slickness issue mentioned in another review has not been a problem for me. I've been pleased with its durability and its resistance to sweat.

I had originally purchased one of the many cheap mats that can be found at sporting goods stores or discount outlets, and have found the Gaiam model to be much superior. It is denser foam, which provides a bit more of a cushion despite being the same thickness, and it is much easier to clean due to its glossy surface. Also, the cheap mat was ruined in about three months. The Gaiam is still going strong -- I think it should last at least a year, probably longer.

Great yoga mat. Despite the "new age" design, its a great simple mat. I use it in my bedroom to stretch and do abs on. Great padding.
